Answer:

What is sludge ?

Sludge is human waste (like faeces) in waste water left during sewage treatment. Since it is organic waste, it is used to produce biogas and manure. Sludge is collected by a scrapper. It is transferred to a separate tank where it is decomposed by the anaerobic bacteria.

What are its uses ?

The usage of municipal sewage sludge as fuel supports the saving of fossil fuel emission. Sludge is usually treated before disposal to reduce water content, fermentation propensity and pathogens by making use of treatment processes like thickening, dewatering, stabilisation, disinfection and thermal drying.

Hope it helps!
