Answer:

Soil Erosion

. Soil erosion is a process of wearing away, weathering, or eroding of the topsoil, the fertile part of the soil due to its rich organic and nutrient content.

. This erosion is caused by various physical forces like forces caused by water, wind, or tillage. Heavy floods, mudslides, wind and storms are major natural causes of soil erosion which just washes away the topsoil.

• Tillage and other unsustainable agricultural practices are man-made

causes of soil erosion. Tillage done as part of farming processes breaks the soil structure leading to runoff of surface soil. Tillage also reduces crop residue that leads to soil erosion.

Following proper tillage methods that would not cause soil erosion, avoiding pesticides and chemical fertilizers that might change the chemical composition of the soil, avoiding overgrazing, maintaining proper vegetative cover over the topsoil etc will help prevent soil erosion.

hope it helps
