the presence of toxic chemicals in high amount on land soil is called soil pollution.

Too much use of agricultural chemicals , disposal of wastes, biological agents , radioactive pollutants etc... are responsible for soil pollution.

Soil pollution is the contamination of soil with harmful substances that can adversely affect the quality of the soil.

Some of the causes of soil pollution are-

1. Excessive use of pesticides, insecticides and fertilizers.

2. Chemical runoff from factories or industries.

3. Improper dumping of garbage and sewage in the soil.

4. Accidental spills and leakage of chemicals stored near crop fields.

5. Occurence of acid rain.
