solar energy is the most readily available sources of energy. solar energy can be used to generate electricity using solar panels on roof tops .solar panels contain photovoltaic cells which absorbs light energy of sun and convert it to D.C. electricity directly. this electricity can either be used immediately or can be stored in a battery for future use.this can be used for a number of applications such as domestic lighting, street lighting, rural electrification, water pumping, desalination of salty water, powering of remote telecommunications devices, etc.india is one of the few countries with long day time and plenty of sunshine. so in a country like India, potential of the solar energy can be best exploited. a solar cell is usually made up of silicon. a typical solar cell produces about 0.7 W of electricity when exposed to sun.but this is very small amount for practical use.hence a large number of solar cells are joined together in a definite pattern , and they are usually called solar cell panel. the advantages of using solar cell panel is that it can be used in remote places where laying the usual electric supply lines are very difficult. in our state, solar panels are used in remote areas like Sunderban. .............
