Answer:

matter can exist in one of the three main state. solid liquidor gas.

solid:is composed of tightly packed particles. a solid will retain its shape. the particles are not free to move.

LIQUID:is made of more loosely packed particles.it will take the shape of its container. particles can move about within a liquid. but they are packed densely enough that volume is maintained.

GASEOUS MATTER:is composed of particles packed so loosely that it has neither a defined shape nor defined volume. a gas can be compressed.

Hey friend,

Here is the answer :-

Solid : The solid is that state of a substance (matter) whose shape and volume both are definite. For example : Table, book, stone pieces etc. When the the intermolecular forces of attraction among the molecules of the substance is stronger than forces of separation then the substance is said to be in solid state.

Liquid : The liquid is that state of matter whose volume is definite but shape is not definite like water, milk, oil etc. When the intermolecular forces of attraction among the molecules are only slightly greater than the corresponding forces of separation then the substance is in the liquid state.

Gas : The gas is that state of matter whose shape and size both are indefinite and its examples are : Air, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen etc. The gases have no definite shape but only occupy the shape and size of the container in which they are kept.

Mixture : The mixture is an impure substance which is formed by the combination of two or more pure elements by the means of a physical process and it doesn't has any definite ratio. Also the constituents of the mixture can be separated by any simple or physical process or by any mechanical process. For example : Air, brass etc.
