A solenoid is a long straight insulated wire, often wrapped around a cylinder-shaped body. A copper coil is wound around a cylindrical core, such that the cores diameter is lesser than its length. It produces a magnetic field when electric current is passed through it.A strong magnetic field is produced inside a solenoid when a current is allowed to pass through it.
