sonar stands for SOUND NAVIGATING AND RANGING. it is a device which uses ultrasound waves for searching different things in the deep water or the place where humans can not go. In this device a number of ultra sound waves is produced ,when the waves touches an object in the deep sea it bounces back and is received by the device. so its depth and distance can be calculated of the object

Sonar is a machine that uses underwater sound waves to find other objects in the sea . A sonar can work by sending out sound and listening for echoes ( active sonar ) , like a radar , or by listening for sound made by the object it is trying to find ( passive sonar ) the transmitter creates the sound waves .
