SONAR  stands for Sound Navigation And Ranging. sonar is an instrument which uses ultrasonic waves to measure the distance, direction as well as speed underwater things. Sonar consists of a transmitter and a detector which is installed in a boat or ship. the transmitter forms and transmits ultrasonic waves. these waves travel through water and after hitting the object on the seabed, become reflected back and are sensed through detector. the detector converts the ultrasonic waves into electrical signals which are suitable interpreted.
