Answer:

A form of wave , which travels through the air medium makes vibration. These vibrating waves travel in the medium until it reaches our ear and that signal is being sent to the brain.

This vibrating waves are called sound.

Production of sound is solely dependent on the waves and how it collides with other particles that are adjacent to each other in the medium. This whole phenomenon creates a disturbance and thus we can hear it as a sound.

Sound and its production:

  • Sound is an audible acoustic wave produced by vibration.
  • This vibration requires a medium to travel in so there will be no sound in the vacuum.
  • Vibration of an object in a medium produces sound waves. These waves travels in a longitudinal direction in air.
  • In standard pressure and in standard temperature, sound travels with a speed 343 m/s.
  • Amplitude, Pitch and frequency of the sound can be calculated by the height, wavelength and the speed of the wave.
