it is type of port found in most of home theatres and devices.. unlike the auxulary cable 2 channel.. it can transmit multiple channel data through optical medium from output to input source

S/PDIF stands for Sony/Philips Digital Interface. In the photo above, the S/PDIF port is on the right side.
