The band of seven colours VIBGYOR is known as spectrum. The colour appears in the following order VIBGYOR (V -violet , I -indigo , B-blue , G- green , Y -yellow O -orange, R -red.

The spectrum is the range of different colours which is produced when light passes through a glass prism or through a drop of water. A rainbow shows the colours in spectrum.
Following is the order:
a) Violet
b) Indigo
c) Blue
d) Green
e) Yellow
f) Orange
g) Red
Violet having the smallest wavelength and red having the largest wavelength.
