The speed of sound through air is about 340 meters per second. (The speed of sound in water is about 4 times faster than this). The speed of light in air is about 300 million meters per second.

we can distinguish between cooking oil and butter by bromine water test:-add bromine water to little of cooking oil and butter taken in different test tubes.1. cooking oil decolourises bromine water showing that it is an unsaturated compound.2. butter doesn't decolourise bromine water showing that it is a saturated compound.
note:-=>bromine water has a reddish brown or light orange colour due to the presence of br2 unit.
=>when bromine is added to unsaturated compounds,then bromine gas gets discharged<becomes colourless>.
=>so if an organic compound decolourises bromine water , then it will be an unsaturated compound.
