• SPERM •
Sperm is a male gametophyte forms in testis through the process Spermatogenesis.
Sperm is a haploid cell which takes part in reproduction process and fertilises ova (secondary oocyte) to form a Zygote. It carries all informations from male parent.
Structure of Sperm - Sperm i.e; spermatozoon has three parts (i) Head, (ii) Middle piece and (iii) Tail.
Head - It is covered by a cap like structure known as Acrosomic cap. It has a bag like structure called Acrosome which contains lytic enzymes known as Sperm Lysin.
Middle Piece - It contains neck at anterior position. It contains two centrioles which are Proximal and Distal centrioles. Middle piece contains a number of mitochondria arranged in spiral manner.
Tail - It helps in movement inside female reproductive organs.
The complete sperm is enclosed by Plasma membrane.
