Spermatogenesis is the process of maturation of reproductive germ cells in the testes.

The process of "Spermatogenesis" is as follows:

Spermatogenesis includes two stages - (i)Formation of spermatids, (ii)Metamorphosis of spermatids.

• During the phase of multiplication, the Premordial germ cells divide repeatedly by mitosis to form diploid

"Spermatogonia".

Each spermatogonium divides mitotically to form two primary Spermatocytes.

. During the phase of growth, the primary spermatocytes enlarge in size and prepare to undergo maturation.

During the phase of maturation, the primary spermatocytes undergo meiosis I, giving rise to two haploid secondary spermatocytes.

• The secondary spermatocytes undergo meiosis II, which results in the formation of four spermatids.

During the phase of maturation, the primary spermatocytes undergo meiosis I, giving rise to two haploid secondary spermatocytes.

The secondary spermatocytes undergo meiosis II, which results in the formation of four spermatids.

At last, the spermatids get converted into sperms (reproductive germ cells) through the process of "Spermiogenesis".
