What is spleen? And wt function does it perform?

Spleen is present b/w the stomach and the diaphragm.It is red in colour.

The following are the functions of spleen :-
1)The most important function is the removal of RBCs.The RBCs in human body have a life span of 120 days, spleen is the graveyard of the RBCs.
2)Spleen is also called the blood bank of human body because it is a blood reservoir and supplies blood in case of emergencies.
3)It stores formed elements.

Spleen is the organ in the upper far left part of the abdomen,to the left of the stomach. It's function is that it acts as a filter for blood as part of the immune system.
