Hey friend here is your answer
_____________ ____________

Stability of an atom means it's ability to acquire the noble has configuration by completing its octet .

Let me illustrate this by taking the example of Na
So it's electronic configuration is
K:2
L:8
M:1

So now In order to attain stability sodium can easily loose one electron so it looses its electron from M shell and completed its octet
And it therefore forms Na+ cation.

Hope it helps you

Thanks

A stable atom is an atom that has enough binding energy to hold the nucleus together permanently. An unstable atom does not have enough binding energy to hold the nucleus together permanently and is called a radioactive atom.
