Though its very hard to handle standard hydrogen electrode, but as we take its potential to be zero by convention, thus, we measure the other half cell potentials with respect to that. But it needs extreme care to handle this. Thus, nowadays we generally use calomel electrodes or sometimes quinhydrone electrodes according to our requirement.
