Answer:

The state of motion of an object is defined by its velocity - the speed with a direction. Thus, inertia could be redefined as follows: Inertia: tendency of an object to resist changes in its velocity. ... Such an object will not change its state of motion (i.e., velocity) unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

To summarize, a force is a push, pull, or dragging on an object that affects the object's state of motion. The force may also cause a combination of the above effects, it may both accelerate/ decelerate and change the direction of the object. Force in real life most often affects both speed and direction of the motion.

A push or pull is called force. When we apply force to a stationary object it start moving In this case a object is on rest position and we apply force to move it it is called state of motion.
