  • The law of static friction states that the force of friction, that resists the motion of the body as it starts to fall down the surface, is proportional to the normal (perpendicular) force that the body exerts on the surface.

STATIC FRICTION:-

The friction experienced when individuals try to move a stationary object on a surface, without actually triggering any relative motion between the body and the surface which it is on

LAWS OF STATIC FRICTION:-

(1) F = μR, which governs the relation between limiting frictional force F and normal reaction R

(2) the coefficient of friction μ is independent of the apparent area of contact
