What is steady-state forecasting and what is it most useful for ?

Steady-state forecasting is a weather prediction based on the past movement of surface weather systems. It assumes that the systems will move in the same direction and at approximately the same speed as they have been moving. steady-state forecasting is also known as trend forecasting.

Steady-state forecasting is used mostly when looking at and predicting the movements of weather fronts.

Of course, this method like any other is not always accurate since weather fronts often move unpredictably due to the number of factors affecting them.
