A stent is a tiny lattice tube which is used for treatment of constricted arteries (the blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart to other parts of the body.) A stent is positioned in an artery as part of a process known as coronary angioplasty. The stent causes the constricted artery to gape so as to refurbish the movement of blood.
