Steps taken by British to suplress the revolt of 1857 are the following :-
1) The British millitary officers freed Delhi from Rebels. Hundred of people were massacred.
2) Bahadur Shah Zafar second was tried for treason and exiled to Rangoon.
3) Lacknow was recaptured in 1858 and Rani Lakshmi Bai was killed in the Battle.
4) Tantya Tope was captured and hanged to death.
5) Nana Saheb was also defeated and fled to Nepal.

Suppression of Revolt of 1857 British imperialism to strong for Revolt with a developing capitalist economy & at the height of its power the world over supported by most of the Indian princes & chiefs poured immense supplies of men, money & arms. Captured Delhi on 20th Sept 1857. Captured Delhi after prolonged & bitter fighting. Bahadur Shah taken prisoner, tried & exiled to Rangoon where he died in 1862. Royal Princes were captured & butchered on the spot.
British defeated rebel leaders:Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansidied on field of battle on 17 June 1858.Nana Sahib defeated at Kanpur, escaped to Nepal in 1859.
