what is stock exchange

thebananaboy: If you need the actual elaborate meaning of Stock Exchange, then a stock exchange is a place where one who wants money and one who needs money meet together, and money in the form of securities is purchased and sold in the trading rings, which are now converted into online transactions on the website of stock exchange.
thebananaboy: The securities sold here are mainly those that are secondary in nature i.e. have been witheld by someone before and now they want to sell them, but they are only done through IPO or Initial Public Offers. Therefore it is also known as a Secondary Market.
nnn31: thank you soo much
thebananaboy: Regarding IPOs, they are only done for new issue / fresh issue of securities, I kinda forgot to incorporate that elsewhere.
