Explanation:

Stomata are small pores present in the underside of the leaf. They are surrounded by gaurd cells which help in closening and opening of stomata. Their functions performed by them are as follows-:

1)They allow exchange of gases from the surrounding medium. Usually, carbon dioxide is taken up and oxygen is released.

2)From stomata, transpiration takes place that is loss of excess water from the aerial parts of the plant.
