In simple words stomata is a hole from where plant respire . In advance words stomata is a hole which is surrounded by 2 guard cells. stomata are present on the upper and lower surface of leaves, lenticels of stem and general surface of the roots. during the day time, carbon dioxide is used and oxygen is given out in photosynthesis, during the night time , photosynthesis does not occur , plants take oxygen from the atmosphere and give out carbon dioxide .
