In a layman’s words stress pressure or worry caused by the problems of life. All living human beings feel stress. Some learn how to cope with it while others fail to do so. If not handled and tackled timely, it becomes a serious disease and the source of many other ailments. Let’s first understand what stress actually is.
Stress is our body's way of responding to any kind of demand, threat, or change. In certain cases stress enables us to tackle the challenge on hand. For example in threat conditions, our bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood. These chemicals give us more energy and strength, which can be a good thing. However there is a bad stress also. The bad stress our groundless anxiety in response to some emotional issue that in reality is not so threatening but we assume it to be threatening. This type of stress is ‘negative stress.’
Causes of Stress
Many different things can cause stress. For instance, threat to our life in an emergency, accident, fight, danger, worrying about your health, family or job, pollution, excessive noise, crowd, fatigue, overwork, problematic relationship, etc, can cause stress.
Effects
Stress can cause serious physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral complications. Headache, insomnia, indigestion, poor concentration, frequent negative thoughts, anxiety, depression, relationship troubles, driving recklessly, drug or alcohol abuse, aggression are a few of them.
