Strobilation or transverse fission is a form of asexual reproduction consisting of the spontaneous transverse segmentation of the body. It is observed in certain cnidarians and helminths.

STROBILATION:

Series of ring like transverse constrictions are developed in the parent organism. The organism looks like a pile of minute saucers. The segmented body is called a strobila.

Example: Aurelia

This mode of reproduction is characterized by high offspring output.

It occurs normally in helminths and cnidarians.

Hope this helps you
