Some points on structural genes are as follows:-

1. These genes are meant for transcription of mRNA.

2. This gene work as synthesis enzyme as well.

3. Ttyptophan operon has five structural genes E, D, C, B and A.

4. They lie in continuation & synthesise enzymes for the five steps of tryptophan synthesis.

5. Link of structural gene is found connected with operator gene.

6. It gives site for RNA polymerase for the purpose of binding and it helps in initiating of the transcription.

A structural gene is a gene that codes for the amino acid sequence of a protein ( such as enzyme) or for a ribosomal RNA or transfer RNA.
