Structural gene:- It is the cistron lac operon. It has three cistron :-

1. Z - gene

2. Y - gene

3. α - gene

1. Z - gene :- It is the gene which forms β - galactosidase. The function of β - galactosidase is to digest lactose into the galactose (glucose is the respiratory fuel) and glucose.

2. Y - gene :- The function of the is to form permease. The function of permease is to manage the entry of β galactoside.

3. α - gene :- Transacylase is formed by this gene. Function of this is to transfer the acetyl group into the β - galactosidase.
