Explanation:

The reasons that led to subsistence crisis are (i) The population of France rose from about 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789 which led to a rapid increase in the demand for food grains. (ii) Production of grains could not keep pace with the increasing demand.

A situation when there is a huge lack of foodgrains due to which a pauperism and a widespread hunger occurs is called subsistence crisis.

You can take example from French Revolution .During French Revolution, when the French revolutionaries were busy in drafting a constitution of France in order to remove monarchy , the following winter , hails and rain destroyed the crop. Due to which a widespread hunger occurred which can be said that subsistence crisis occurred there.

Also king was unable to fulfill the needs of people.

Moreover, high prices created difficulties for workers to buy food grains . So they also became angry.
