Many have translated 'dukkha' as 'suffering', but the true definition is much more comprehensive. The second truth explains the origins of 'dukkha', which is desire, or craving. The third delivers hope in overcoming 'dukkha', that it can be defeated by following what the Buddha called the Eightfold Path.
