The process by which a solid is directly converted into gaseous state without touching the liquid state is called as Sublimation.

The sublimation is the process which is often seen in those compounds which possess a low latent heat of vaporization.

Those compounds gain energy from the environment and break the bonds between them and set themselves free to get converted into gaseous state.

For Example :-

The disappearing of Camphor with respect to time is the best example of Sublimation.

The camphor undergoes continuous Sublimation by gaining energy from the environment and gets converted into gaseous state slowly. And with respect to time the entire solid camphor gets converted into gaseous State and disappears.

The similar feat is observed in phenolpthalein which also undergoes sublimation.
