sublimation is the process in which solid state is changing into gaseous state.
For eg: take an ice cube . Heat it .when the ice heats or evaporates it changes its state from solid to gas

Sublimation:

  • Sublimation can be defined as the transition from solid state to ‘gaseous state’ without going through the ‘liquid state’.
  • This type of transition occurs only when the pressure and the temperature is below the ‘triple point’.
  • This term represents only the changes of the phase physically and not through some random chemical reactions.
  • For example, the paraffin wax vaporizes as gas is not considered as sublimation.
  • When the dry ice changes into ‘vapour at room temperature’ and pressure is an example of sublimation.
