In substitution reaction, one functional group of compound is replaced by another group.
# Examples -
Benzene on reaction with conc.H2SO4 and conc.HNO3 gives nitrobenzene.
C6H6 + HNO3 --> C6H5-NO2 + H2O
Benzene on reaction with bromine water gives bromobenzene.
C6H6 + Br2 --> C6H5-Br + HBr
