ionization enthalpy:-

it is the amount of energy which is required to remove most loosely bonded electron from an isolated gaseous particle.

its unit is Kilo joule per mole.

successive ionization enthalpy:-

  • it is amount of energy which is required to remove 1st , 2nd etc. electrons from an isolated gaseous particle.
  • ex :- IE1,IE2.
  • successive ionization enthalpy is always greater than 1st ionization enthalpy.
  • reason
  • successive ionization enthalpy is always greater than normal ionization enthalpy.
  • reason for it becoming more stable of any element after providing energy to it.
