Suck back is another term for decompression. Basically it moves the screw straight back to a set point to keep pressure out of the tip of the barrel. This keeps stringing and such to a minimum.

- The technical elaboration of suck back is the process of performing the suck back operation in a particular injection molding machine.
- This particular injection is having the servo meter as its axis drive of the injection for the effective and axial driving of the screw.
- The suck back operation is put into effect by slowly trying to move the particular screw in backward direction.
- It simultaneously getting rid of any back pressure which helps in disconnecting the melted resin material and prevents it from falling off.
