According to the author,
everything to his surrounding is a miracle. Whether he in streets in Manhattan,
or he is walking along the beach, or he is under the tree, or he is eating
dinner, or he is watching his roof, a miracle is happening every time and
everywhere. For the author, the sea, the swimming fishes, men traveling in
ships; all are miracles.

'Miracles,'', by Walt Whitman, encourages readers to not only stop and question the idea of a miracle, but also to realize that miracles occur everywhere every day. The poem begins with a question, ''Why, who makes much of a miracle?'' , and ends with one, ''What stranger miracles are there?''
