Surface texture is nature of surface, described by it's physical appearance. It is described below in detail.

1. Surface texture is also known as surface finish or surface topography.

2. Texture of surface is defined by three characteristics, namely, roughness of surface, waviness and lay.

3. Surface texture is responsible for controlling friction.

4. This regulated movement of any object over the surface.

Difference between primary texture and secondary texture is -

•Primary texture is referred as roughness and secondary texture is referred as waviness.

•Primary texture is caused due to irregularity, which is present on surface.

•It occurs due to problem in production process.

•Secondary texture arises due to different factors like heat treatment, vibrations etc.
