SWADESHI MOVEMENT

The influence of Radicals over Bengalis was increasing and this was not barable by the British government .Viceroy Curzon partitioned Bengal and gave the reason that handling tha largest province Bengal was difficult so they partitioned Bengal , but actually they wanted to lessen the infuence of British over people. Thus they even Mixed East Bengal with Assam. This was revolted by all(radical moderates and other bengalis). The strugle of bengal (hartals , demonstrartions) were known as Swadeshi movement in Bengal. It was the most powerful in Bengal and echoes were heard elsewhere and in ANDHRA it was known as VANDEMATARM movement.THis was the 1st successful Pre-Gandhian movement
