=> EXAMPLE:- If there is no centripetal force, then the moon will pursue a uniform straight line motion that is tangent to the earth.

• A line that intersects the circle in exactly one point is called a tangent of a circle.
• The point at which the tangent intersects the circle is called its point of contact.

In the attachment, SPT is a tangent at the point P of the circle with centre O.

So, we can say that P is the point of contact of the tangent with the circle.
