a tangent is a line which touches the circle At only one point but secant touches intersects the circle at two points
all tangents r secants but all secants are not tangents

tangent is a term used in calculus...geomtry and trigonometry...tan x is the opposite side of the angle x of a right angled triangle divided by its adjacent side...while secant is the hypothesis if the triangle divided by its adjacent side
