This is a special type of functional isomerism where the isomers exist simultaneously in equilibrium with each other.

Essential condition for tautomerism

Aldehyde and ketones having atleast one acidic alpha-hydrogen atom show Keto-enol tautomerism

The keto form is more stable than enol form.
