a hierarchical system is used for classifying organisms to the spieces level. This system is called taxonomic category.

Taxonomic categories are those levels at which the organisms are classified
The Order of taxa is as follows..:-

Kingdom>division>Class>Order>Family>Genus>species
As we move from kingdom to species the number of similarities between organisms decreases..

Kingdom or division at its own level is known as an taxonomic category ,Taxa or Taxon..

It is just the way to classify and group various number of organisms in a well mannered function..
