Teflon is a name of a chemical coating, polytetrafluoroethylene (thankfully shortened and called PTFE). It was first made in the 1930s to create a non-reactive, nonstick surface. It's known for its use in cookware, although it can also be used to coat other materials like wires or fabrics to make them waterproof.

Answer:

Teflon is one of the most superior plastic polymer materials. it has a very high melting point. chemically it is almost completely inert .this property makes it an excellent engineering material. oil and water do not stick on Teflon. that is why it is used for non stick coating on cooking wares . its use is restricted because of its high cost .
