Tigellum is the main axis of the embryo. It has two ends, one which is pointy and another one is feathery.

The pointed end protrudes out of cotyledons. It is a rudimentary root, which lies next to the micropyle and is known as radicle.

Other than the pointed end, tigellum has a feathery end known as plumule, which is the first apical bud of the shoot.

Tigellum is one of the parts of the Embryo, the other being the cotyledons. Embryo is a young plant enclosed in a seed coat.
