Tensor :- It is just a general term for unit of data. Duh… we all know It is also represented with a Rank, like in Matrix.
There are a few different ways to understand tensors, and my opinion is that tensors don't become truly intuitive until you see how they all fit together.
Pressure itself is looked upon as a scalar quantity; the related tensor quantity often talked about is the stress tensor.
Tensor characterise the properties of system. Tensors are may be single point or an array of point depends on the rank of tensor.
rank 0 tensor(scalar) are pressure, mass, temperature etc. Its is a just single(3^0) point tensor.
Rank 1 tensor (vector) are speed, displacement, force etc. They are three(3^1) point tensor or denoted by Ai+Bj+Ck.
Rank 2 tensor are stress tensor. We generally use tensor word for the tensor of rank more than or equal to two. It is a nine (3^2) point tensor.
σ11 σ12 σ13
σ= σ21 σ22 σ23
σ31 σ32 σ33
and continues for higher rank....
Pressure is scalar quantity or a tensor of rank zero.
