Carbon is Tertavalent Meeans that carbon has 4 electrons in the outer most shell.

The element Having 4 electrons in the outer most shell will be called tetravalent.

                                                         OR

The element having Valency 4 will also be called tertavalent.

EXAMPLE- CARBON AND SILLICON.
