The center of an atom is called nucleus. Nucleus is made up of protons and neutrons.protons are the particle which carries positive charges and neutrons are the particle which carries neutral charges .The number of neutron is always equal to the number of protons .but Helium 3 and protium are the only two matter which have number of proton greater than neutrons.the size of nucleus is about 10 to the power minus 15 M compared to atom.It was discovered by Rutherford in 1911 through gold foil experiment .
