A typical flower has 4 different kinds of whorls arranged successively on the swollen end of stalk or pedicel, called thalamus .
Floral whorls are :
- Calyx
- corolla
- Androecium
- Gynoecium

The flower is borne over a stalk called pedicel. The tip of the pedicel is enlarged into two broad base called thalamus or receptacle which holds the flower parts.
The parts of a flower arises on the receptacle in the form of 4 whorles -
(i) Calyx

(iii) Androecium
(iv) Gynoecium
