What is the acceleration of a rock thrown straight upward on the way up?
At the top of its flight? On the way down? Assume there is no air resistance.
1) In all cases, the acceleration is the same.
2) When moving up, the acceleration projection on the vertical axis is
negative. At the top of the flight, the acceleration is zero. When moving
down, the acceleration projection on the vertical axis is positive
3) When moving up, the acceleration projection on the vertical axis is
positive. At the top of the flight, the acceleration is zero. When moving
down, the acceleration projection on the vertical axis is negative.
4) When moving up, the acceleration is minimal. When moving down,
the acceleration is maximum. At the top of its flight the acceleration is
zero.

acceleration is all the cases is same

Explanation:

1) In all cases, the acceleration is the same.

as  rock thrown straight upward   hence taking Velocity  Direction positive

upward so  acceleration is  - g  ( as Earth is pulling it )

As earth gravitational force remains the same & object remains the same

Hence acceleration remains the same through out the journey

After reaching top point where Velocity = 0

Velocity direction changes

hence it become - ve

while v = 0 + at    (   v is  - ve  because a is - ve)

hence acceleration is all the cases is same

acceleration = g  or  - g depends upon the frame we consider
